PRSSA, PRC, SGA, and a few links

Posted by Rachel Esterline on Sep 12, 2008 in Committees, Public Relations

In case you were wondering why I’ve been so quiet lately, I haven’t had internet at home for the past week.

PR Central, our student-run PR firm, has started for the semester. I am very excited, seeing as I am an account executive now. I met with my client the next day and now I have so many ideas, I can’t wait to get started.

PRSSA also started for the semester. I was actually a little nervous speaking in front of everyone, but I’m sure I’ll become more comfortable as the semester goes on.

SGA started as well. (This week was incredibly stressful). I met with several people interested in joining my public relations committee.

My subscriptions on Google Reader have piled up. Here’s a few items I saved to post.

Getting started in blogging

Although I’ve blogged for awhile, several of my friends have not. If you need more information on blogging, watch a presentation and check out a few links to get you started.

New doors have opened

Posted by Rachel Esterline on Jul 23, 2008 in Committees, Freelancing

I’m always looking for ways to learn more about public relations and journalism. Recently, two new doors of opportunity have been unlocked.

I am joining the PRSSA Internships/Job Services subcommittee. This will give me the opportunity to become involved with PRSSA on the national level and to network with the various public relations professionals I will come across while working with this committee.

I will also be freelance writing for a magazine. I will be blogging on green living, including products, lifestyles and jobs. It will require several fairly short articles per week. The Web site has about 100,000 visitors per month. It will be an interesting experience because I must write “young” and “edgy” for the audience. More to come on this soon.

I’m always looking for doors to open…and if I don’t have a key, I might just try crawling through a window.
